Defense
Defense organizations are using pattern of life (PoLA) analysis in a variety of ways to improve national security. Some of the most common uses of POL analysis in defense include:

Mission Driven
Defense organizations can use POL analysis to identify and track potential threats to national security, such as terrorists, foreign intelligence officers, and criminals. For example, the US Department of Defense (DoD) uses POL analysis to track the movements of known and suspected terrorists around the world.
Simulation
Defense organizations can use POL analysis to assess the impact of military operations on civilian populations and infrastructure. This information can be used to minimize the risk of collateral damage and to improve the effectiveness of military operations. For example, the DoD uses POL analysis to assess the impact of airstrikes on civilian populations in conflict zones.
